Our Answer

I have about 2 1/2 pages of information that I'd be happy to send to you if you'd like. In a nut shell, here's a small list:

The best thing to do is to eat a diet of 75% raw foods. Eat garlic, potatoes, asparagus, parsley, watercress, celery, cucumbers, papaya, and bananas. Watermelon and pumpkin seeds are also helpful. Watermelon needs to be eaten alone so that it can pass through the digestive system quickly; if it stays in the body too long, toxins begin to form. Also eat sprouts and most green vegetables.

Don't use salt or potassium chloride (a salt substitute), and try to reduce your intake of potassium and phosphates (I know you're aware of that). Also, avoid beet greens, chocolate, cocoa, eggs, fish, meat, spinach, rhubarb, swiss chard and tea. A diet high in animal protein puts stress on the kidneys.

Drink plenty of steam-distilled water. A good measure would be 6-8 ounces every hour.

Foods that are beneficial for the kidneys are legumes, seeds, and soybeans. They are high in the amino acid arginine. Other good protein sources are peas, beans, lentils, millet, and whole grains.

Try to eat only soured dairy products such as low-fat yogurt, buttermilk and cottage cheese. Avoid the rest of the dairy family.

As far as nutrients go, acidophilus is very important, especially if she's on antibiotics. A good vitamin and mineral supplement is important. I would suggest the Total or Ultra Toddy. Also supplementing with L-arginine and L-methionine that you can find at any health food store.

A complete nutrition program is vital for balancing your body and giving it everything it needs to heal and help itself. Hope this has been helpful. Call us if you have questions, 1-800-943-1123. If you'd like the written pages of info, send me your address and I'd be happy to send it to you through the mail.
