FAQ's for Women's Health

Are soy isoflanones and phytoestrogens both one and the same? If i'm taking Promensil, am I taking a soy isoflanones or a phytoestrogen? I'm considering ordering TwinLab's Mega Soy. Do you sell a product that is similar in content and in price. Twinlab Mega Soy is 60 capsules for under $10

Our Answer

Soy Isoflavones and Phytoestrogens are the same type of thing. Phyto means plant, so phytoestrogens are plant based estrogens or estrogens from plants. Since soy is a bean from a plant...it's a phytoestrogen coming by way of soy isoflavones. You won't be getting any plant based estrogens from Promensil. From what I understand, it's a chemical based estrogen. You can ask your pharmacist to be sure.

We do carry a Mega Soy product from Life Extension, but it's $20.00 for 60 caps. Twice the price. Twinlab is also a good product, so if you can get it that inexpensive...go for it.

What is the concentration of progesterone in the 2 ounces of viva la creme? Specifically, in the 60cc how many milligrams of progesterone? Thanks

—December 2000

Our Answer

There is 500mg of progesterone per ounce. So in the 1.96 oz of "Viva La Creme" progesterone cream, there is a total of approx. 1000 mg of US progesterone. Hope this information helps.
